Sharda Public School : special teacher : Raina Mam

Raina Mam was our Economics teacher in Great Sharda Public School, I don’t know much of today as I am not in touch with the school over a decade, She was beautiful and charming lady may be mid of her fourtees that time, She also taught my elder brother and sister, perhaps my elder brother was her favorite student as he was good on studies but it was not good for me at all as I was always compared with my brother all the times...

Although I was average student and never flunked in her subject even for once , she used to tell me to work hard as she had same expectations from me as she had from my brother , one fine day our principal asked for a list of students who were not good in Economics and no price for correct guess here , my name was on the Top ....... We were called in the Principal's room and she gave us a choice to change a subject of our choice i.e Geography, Hindi, Home Since or History instead of Economics... I felt hurt as who were they to decide that I was not good at Economics , My principal mam who knew me personally for so many years advised me to visit Raina mam and request her to not take me out of Economics but a I refused as I was not happy at all with her ego that too with the student 1/3 of her age. Anyways nothing personal ........ I joined Geography group ,, our lovely Kedar Sir , He was a rockstar , seriously , he taught us every thing , he had an answer for every question , Any way I am dedicating a full page on him so we may discuss about him later on ,

Raina Mam ......... So she was now happy to have all the mess out of her class , her favorite students Ravi Sachdeva , Shefali Khosla ( she was mam ki chamchi ) Ritu Chadha , Pankaj Anand , Rakesh Prabhakar , Meenakshi Goel , Sheetal Kulhar and Abha were their ......... poor guys as they missed the real action in Kedar Sir class ....

My second encounter with raina mam was just 25 days before my XII board exam , I got an urgent telegram from my school with advice to meet principal mam urgently , I went their with my Dad and a shocking surprise was waiting for us and 15 other students waiting there , we came to know that their was so technical issues in changing of our subjects and CBSE ( who conduct board exam ) are not happy with changes of subject by school and conclusion we have to give Eco exam in boards , I cried for hours that day as it was impossible for me to score good marks now as i was not in touch with economics for so long and I sold my economics book to one Chole Kulchey Guy for one plate of the same ( as used the pages of the same book as serving plates )

My Dad straight away went to Raina mam home in Defence colony with me , she was so cool and advised my dad that Rahul should reper a year in XII , I do not wish to share my reactions here ,then we went to CBSE office and after hours and hours of discussion we got a choice again yeah , Don’t go for Economics and now choose between Hindi Language or Business Study , my choice was clear Business Study ................................ i studied hard with the help of my Bro and Sis , I scored 69/100 . Guess what , when i went with my board result to Raina Mam and Magoo Mam , they looked at my mark sheet and magoo mam sarcastically smiled and said Computer Mistake. .............

I still miss raina mam , a eco teacher in Sharda Public School

1987 : 40 years of independence , race at Nehru stadium , bread pakora in canteen ,
1988 : crossed 13 , welcome to teens , different feeling ,start liking girls company and too much unusual .
1989 : Ist Girl Friend , Ist Bunk , Ist Kiss , and too many first ……….. every thing in school ,
1990 : Board Exams , welcome to XI class , too much debate , iraq war , ritu , shefali , pankaj , ravi gang , to lots of fun
1991 : XII , boss of school , Ist time came to know that I was so popular among girls of 8 to 10 standards , ritika and manjula mam , rock music
1992 : out of school and to Delhi Collage of Arts and Commerce

My School - the great Sharda Public , Defence Colony Delhi

It was 1980 , 27 years back I joined this school , I was 5 years old that time . I clearly remember my initially days in the school . It was little tough for me to adjust in this big school with so many kids around … we didn’t have this building that time and it was train shape single story building with cement roof sheet, and with football stadium size play ground . An Ice cream vender used to stand in the middle of it … My elder brother and sister who were their with me in the school used to get my an ice cream regularly and after recess I used to sit in their class room …. Then I had a biggest shock of my life my mom expired and I was too small to react on the same but I still remember that I used to cry a lot in my class room , my class teacher was god and she did her best to make comfortable that time .

I used to run from my class and normally I used to hide in the loo or behind the school van and always got caught.

Sharda Public School gave me every thing I needed , nirulas – a hot spot till today , near by railway track – we used to discuss train robbery of SHOLAY , Magoo Mam , she was our English teacher , who used to discuss grammy awards , Erose , Chanakya cinema , B Nagpal , our principal mam …. She used to dance with us on every 15 aug functions

I did not know that Sharda is a name of Goddess of Education but the rumor that time was Sharda was a girl friend of our director …

Sharda Public is South Delhi Public now , i hope still rocks
